Of course, none of our work would be possible without our wonderful four-legged friends! Mid Cheshire own three horses – Link, Pip and Ted – and the Group are also lucky to have the support of the great team of ponies at New Barn Livery.
Ranging from 10.2hh up to 16hh, our little herd have been carefully selected for the job. Our horses and ponies are kind and gentle with their riders, and are all great confidence-givers.
Barney is a 14.2hh black gelding with a white blaze and white socks. He is 8 years old and is very popular with both adults and children alike.
He belongs to New Barn, and is regularly used for our RDA sessions.
Blackie is a Shetland pony standing 10.2hh. He belongs to Linda Rose and his ‘Saturday job’ is working with our riders during our Saturday sessions. A lovely smooth ride, Blackie is extremely popular with our smallest riders.
When he’s not helping out at Mid Cheshire, Blackie is an accomplished carriage driving and dressage pony and has competed at national levels!
Charlie is a lovely 10 year old bay gelding who stands at 13hh. Charlie loves life and all of his younger riders adore his gentle nature.
Charlie belongs to New Barn, and is used regularly for our RDA sessions.
Link (or to use his ‘Sunday; name, Nashend Linkwood) is our handsome dun Highland pony. He has been a fully fledged member of our Charity for 12 years and is very popular with just about everybody that has ever had the chance to ride him.
Link is 14.3hh, and as well as being excellent on the lead rein he also competes in side saddle competitions, winning many rosettes and trophies. In the winter he grows a super fluffy coat and is like a big teddy bear!
Pip, or Philip, if you use his ‘Sunday name’, is super friendly and loves the attention that he receives from our younger riders. He has been a member of our Charity since we bought him a couple of years now.
Standing at around 13hh, Pip is a very capable pony who will take his riders happily along off or on the lead rein. Like Link, those who ride him regularly are totally in love with him!
Quinn is a 15hh skewbald pony. He is one of our younger ponies, and his great pleasures in life are his haynet and playing in the field.
Quinn is very reliable, calm and talented. A good all-rounder, he can turn his hoof to most things – he is especially good on the Countryside Challenge course!
If you’re looking for an absolutely unflappable pony, Ted is your man! He is gentle, patient and kind, and loves fuss.
At 15hh he is a great favourite with many of our riders and it’s easy to see why. Although many of you will know Ted well as a member of New Barn, he has recently transferred over to our charity and we couldn’t be more delighted!
